Winter in the High Country
Q. What's the grace period for my booked collection time?A.Guests are asked to arrive to their nominated collection address/location before their scheduled transfer collection time. Arriving early helps to take the stress out of your journey and ensure your booking (and other guests’ bookings) run to time.
Guests who are unable to meet their scheduled collection time may be considered a ‘no show’ and their booking may be cancelled.
We understand that from time-to-time unexpected circumstances occur. Please make contact with Double Black Alpine as early as you can, and where possible and depending on availability, we’ll make best endeavors to assist with date/time changes within the same season.
Q. How much luggage can I take?A.Double Black allows a reasonable amount of luggage per passenger. Reasonable luggage includes one standard size suitcase or equivalent, not exceeding 20kg, and one smaller sized carry-on bag. Total dimensions for each piece must not exceed 158cm (62in). Dimensions for luggage are calculated by adding together the width, height and depth of the piece of luggage.
Another form of informal guidance we provide to guests, is a reasonable amount of luggage is what an individual guest in one-trip, can reasonably and safely carry themselves, from their vehicle to a Double Black vehicle, or from the Double Black vehicle, to the accommodation door.
Q. What is the travel time from Melbourne Airport to Mt BullerA.Travel times can vary, however a one-way trip from Melbourne Airport to your accommodation on Mt Buller takes approx. 3.5hours. This includes provision for one comfort stop in a township along the way. We find this is great opportunity for our clients to have a rest, and refresh with a local treat. It also allows our Team Members to have a short break and stretch their legs.

Q. How long does it take to drive up from Mirimbah Carpark (Resort Entry) into the Mt Buller Village?A.Great question! On a good day, your journey up the mountain takes approximately 30 minutes. We often allow up to 45mins on busy days (Friday evenings and Weekends) or when it is snowing or wet. It is always good to plan a bit of extra time to allow for loading and unloading of passengers and their luggage – everything takes a little bit longer in the snow!
Q. What do you mean by door-to-door?A.Door-to-door means just that! Double Black collects you from your preferred pick up location and delivers you to your accommodation door on the mountain. Or directly into the Mt Buller Village if you are staying off-mountain.
We will collect your group from preferred meeting location at your preferred time (where possible) and deliver your group to your on-mountain accommodation door. There is no requirement to change vehicles and/or share with others. No need for you to worry about chains or the hassle of fitting them if needed!
Q. What do you mean by Private Transfers?A.Private transfers mean you do not share the vehicle with other parties or passengers, only passengers from your group. We are pre-booked, which means a Double Black Vehicle meets you at the agreed booked time. You do not need to queue or wait for the next available vehicle.
Q. Do your vehicles cater for Child Safety Seats?A.Victorian Road Legislation requires child safety seats for children 0-7 years.
Our vehicles are fitted with anchor points to fit child safety seats. Guests are invited to bring their own child safety seat with ISOFIX capability.
